Awards & Honors We’ve Received

There are many different and varied reasons why our Castro Community On Patrol volunteers choose to commit their time, energy, and ideas to our mission, but few – if any at all – do so with the expectation of receiving recognition or awards. Serving the community, doing “something” rather than just complaining, helping others, being a part of something larger than themselves, improving the safety of the neighborhood, learning more about personal safety; these and many others are among the most common reasons we hear from our volunteers, and we respect them wholeheartedly for their service.

Despite not seeking accolades or recognition, CCOP has been fortunate, honored, and is always humbled to be recognized for the work we do and the dedication of our volunteers to that cause. These are some of those:

2024 F.B.I. Director’s Community Leadership Award

Presented by F.B.I. Director Christopher Wray at the F.B.I. J. Edgar Hoover Headquarters, Washington D.C. on 19th April, 2024.

Presented jointly to Community Patrol Service (CPS) and Castro Community On Patrol (CCOP) for the development and educational outreach efforts of the San Francisco LGBTQ+ Community Safety Program.  The CSP was founded in 2022 and worked closely with the F.B.I. and others to provide Active Shooter and Hate Crimes training classes to bars, clubs, and businesses within the LGBTQ+ community in the aftermath of the Club Q murders in Colorado Springs, Colorado.


2024 City & County of San Francisco Mayor London Breed Certificate of Honor

Presented by Mayor London Breed at San Francisco City Hall on 18th March, 2024.

Presented separately to Chief Ken Craig of Community Patrol Service (CPS) and to Chief Greg Carey of Castro Community On Patrol (CCOP) for their dedication and commitment to serving the LGBTQ+ community and the Castro neighborhood.


2024 City & County of San Francisco Board of Supervisors Certificate of Honor

Presented by Supervisor Rafael Mandelman at San Francisco City Hall on 5th March, 2024.

Presented to Castro Community On Patrol in appreciative public recognition of distinction and merit for outstanding service to a significant portion of the people of the City and County of San Francisco.


2021 Harvey Milk LGBTQ Democratic Club Community Service Award

Presented at the Harvey Milk LGBTQ Democratic Club annual gala on 28h October, 2021.
